2003 ACH Network Transaction Breakout

Below are two summaries of ACH network transactions for the year ending 2003. These summaries do not include estimates of on-us transactions. ACH Network volume was 7.53 billion, up 12.86% over 2002; that rate is higher than 2002's growth rate of 10.56%. ACH Network dollar amount increased by 13.13% to $20.7 trillion. Commercial interbank volume (i.e., excluding Federal government items) increased by 14.31%; that rate is higher than 2002's growth rate of 12.76%. Federal government volume increased by 3.5%. Commercial debits exceeded credits, 3.375 billion to 3.232 billion. WEB reached 500 million items in 2003, up 200%. All five e-check SEC codes combined for 955 million items, up 157%. Excluding the five e-check SEC codes, commercial interbank volume increased by 4.5%.
